A non-square sector condition and its application in deferred-action anti-windup compensator design

چکیده
A sector condition for two connected deadzone nonlinearities is provided. By introducing an additional non-square operator which exploits their connectivity, a more general set of sector-like matrix inequalities is obtained. This “non-square” matrix inequality condition is applied to an anti-windup (AW) problem in which the AW compensator is not activated until the unconstrained control signal reaches a welldefined level beyond that of the physical actuator limits. The non-square sector condition allows such “deferred-action” AW synthesis to be performed in a manner much closer to traditional (“immediate”) sector-based AW with either lowered conservatism or decreased computational effort in contrast to recent work. The non-square condition is applicable to other AW problems.

An alternative approach to anti-windup in anticipation of actuator saturation
Traditionally, an anti-windup compensator is activated when control signal saturation occurs. An alternative approach is to activate the compensator at a level below that of the physical control constraints: the antiwindup compensator is activated in anticipation of actuator saturation. Recent studies have proposed systematic methods for the construction of such anticipatory anti-windup compens...
متن کاملAnti-windup design for input-coupled double integrator systems with application to quadrotor UAV's
This paper describes the development of an anti-windup scheme for systems which consist of a parallel set of double integrators preceded by a static coupling element and a saturation nonlinearity. A class of anti-windup compensators are proposed which can guarantee global asymptotic stability of the origin of the closed-loop system. Simple linear-like guidelines for choosing the anti-windup com...
متن کاملDynamic Non-rational Anti-windup for Time-delay Systems with Saturating Inputs
Abstract: This paper addresses the design of dynamic anti-windup compensators for timedelay systems under amplitude control constraints. Considering that the system is subject to the action of L2 bounded disturbances, a method for computing a non-rational dynamic antiwindup compensator in order to guarantee both that the trajectories of the system are bounded and a certain L2 performance level ...
متن کاملDynamic Anti-integrator-windup Controller Design for Linear Systems
This paper is concerned with the design of dynamic anti-integrator-windup controllers for critically stable linear systems. The constant gain for anti-windup in the conventional approach is extended to a transfer function. It is also shown that the proposed compensator design is an extension of the Kothare’s linear conditioning for static anti-windup compensator. The effectiveness of the propos...
متن کاملDelay Dependent Anti-windup Synthesis for Time-varying Delay Systems with Saturating Actuators
The synthesis of an anti-windup compensator for systems with time-varying delays is solved in this paper. More precisely, LMI conditions are proposed that guarantee the stability of the closedloop system, with a enlarged domain of attraction. An ellipsoid and a polyhedral set are used to bound this domain of attraction, making possible to derive a new sector condition. In addition, an algorithm...
